The Night Festival 2015

After a nine month hiatus, I am back here again to report more updates about the Wheelies.

It's been an exciting year for the Wheelies and the projects that we were involved in took up most of my time (including my blogging time). Really glad that I can be back writing about the Wheelies and wheeling again.

In celebration of Singapore's 50th birthday, we were involved in the Singapore Night Festival. The Singapore Night Festival is an iconic alternative night-time extravaganza of arts, culture and revelry. The Wheelies is proud to be invited as a performing group in this international event. As part of the event, we were required to perform two Saturday nights to an international audience.

In order to make an impact for the show and not disappoint the audience, the performing team actually started rehearsing in early July, spending many hours practising as well as choreographing the moves. I must admit the task wasn't as simple as just wheeling as we need to incorporate moves into the show and stretch the show to a cool 15 minutes. The team went through many trial and errors before deciding on the final performance moves. Here is a clip of The Wheelies practising for the show.

We were glad that our performance went smoothly without any hitches. What made it an icing on the cake for the Wheelies was that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong actually stopped by and watched our our performance. A few lucky Wheelians even managed to have a selfie with the man himself. It was a cool 15 minutes of intense wheeling performance for the Prime Minister and the audience and we were glad the loudest applause were reserved for us. It was a result of great teamwork for the entire Wheeling community, who were there to support this event. The audience were also given an opportunity to try out the wheel with the help of our trainers. For those who missed out on the show, here is the link of the video.
